On Saturday 23rd April we all went to the evening performance of The Comedy About A Bank Robbery at the Criterion Theatre, by the same people who did The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong. It was okay, but not nearly as good as those others.
I don't think it was just diminishing returns, from being the third rather than the first we'd seen (although my order of preference was definitely the order in which I saw them). It had less charm (not just because more of the characters were less sympathetic), and fewer laughs per minute. Interesting that in the interview extracted in the programme it said they wanted to do a 'true' farce; they should have been happy with what they'd achieved in the 'performance going wrong' format.
Cast: Henry Shields, Greg Tannahill, Chris Leask, Nancy Wallinger, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Dave Hearn, Charlie Russell, Jeremy Lloyd.
